A passionate marketing executive with over twenty-five years experience in developing & implementing integrated marketing, business development & promotional platforms in sports, media & entertainment industries, Eric launched IdeaQuest LLC in March 2012 following the acquisition of Rule 1.02 Marketing, LLC (founded in 2001) by International Sports Management (ISM) in January 2011.

Recognized for his extensive industry relationships & distinct focus on the technology vertical, Bechtel has specialized in introducing tech clients into the sports & entertainment verticals. Brands including, Conviva, Demand Media, Enterprise Content Solutions (ECS), Fantex Holdings, Inc., SAS & XOS Digital have gained valuable partnerships with powerful media companies & leagues including: Disney/ESPN, MLBAM, Turner Sports, ESPN, FIFA World Cup, NFL, CBS Sports, Fox Sports, Yahoo!, Viacom as well as partnerships with numerous professional sports teams & Fortune 500 companies.

Eric has also guided marquee brands, athletes & properties including American Family Insurance, 24 Hour Fitness,, Burger King, Heineken USA, L'Oreal's Drakkar Noir, Bellator MMA, Dale Earnhardt Inc. & Dale Earnhardt Jr., Rory McIlroy, Steve Young & World Wrestling Entertainment. Recent highlights include helping launch Fantex, Inc., the first global 24/7 stock exchange providing consumers the ability to buy/sell shares in athlete/celebrity brands. Eric has also developed American Family Insurance’s sports marketing strategy & negotiated partnerships with US Army All-American Bowl, Under Armour All- American Football Game & entitlement to USA Today’s “All-USA” All-American franchise in high school as well as help launch AFI’s brand ambassador platform via partnerships with Super Bowl Champion Russell Wilson, Entrepreneur Kathy Ireland, American Idol winner Phillip Phillips and PGA Tour Pro Steve Stricker to name a few. Other notable partnerships include: strategy AOR to Bellator MMA leading its acquisition by Viacom in 2011; selling & packaging’s $25 million NASCAR investment in 2009 which included primary sponsorship & official search engine status; 24 Hour Fitness eleven (11) season integration into NBC’s “The Biggest Loser”; Burger King’s partnerships with NFL, NASCAR & creating/ launching Dale Earnhardt’s Legacy platform & Foundation.

Previously, Eric joined Integrated Sports International (ISI) in 1994 as an equity partner & played key role in their growth & sale to SFX Entertainment in 1999. At ISI, he was an integral member that sold stadium naming rights to 3Com Park/San Francisco 49ers, Ericcson Stadium/Carolina Panthers & Comcast Center/University of Maryland and he also landed Burger King as ISI’s first corporate consulting client. Bechtel also handled off-field marketing for San Francisco 49ers’ & NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young. At SFX Entertainment, Eric supervised their Sports Group’s sales division with 17 offices globally.

Bechtel started his career at TitanSports Inc. / World Wrestling Federation where he was a member of the team that led the company’s initial international expansion into both Europe & Asia. His vision & sales acumen also led to the WWF’s historic title sponsorship of “SummerSlam” with Domino’s Pizza: a pay-per-view industry broadcast first.

Eric earned his Master’s degree in Sports Marketing from Ohio University & his B.S. in Mathematical Actuarial Science at the University of Connecticut where he played football. Eric & his family reside in New Jersey. Back Button
